Crabs in Annapolis

I am in Annapolis again and finally tried eating crabs. It's really a complicated and messy process. You grab a crab off the pile and begin pulling the legs off one by one. You have to break the shell off the legs to get a tiny little bit of meat out. The big payoff comes when you get to the claws. That's where the big chunks of meat are and the sweetest meat too - but the claws are hard to get into so that's when you grab your mallet and start hammering the shells.

Now you have the crab body to get into. The main shell is put together like a Chinese Puzzlebox and if you do it right you are left with - crab innards: lungs, liver, intestines - and bits of meat hidden away in different crevises.
